Vito Granuzzo, a 23 year resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at home, surrounded by his family. He was 90.
Son of the late Vincent and Rose Faillia Granuzzo, he was born on August 11, 1928 in the Bronx. He married the love of his life, Delphia Natoli on October 8, 1954; Mrs. Granuzzo survives at home in Wappingers Falls.
Vito proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, until he was honorably discharged. He enjoyed a long career in the printing industry, working for various companies in New York City until his retirement from Variety. In his spare time, Vito enjoyed listening to opera; he could sit and listen for hours. He formerly enjoyed hunting. He was also known for his love of gardening and always had a large vegetable garden. Most of all, he enjoyed his family. Vito loved to joke with his grandchildren, keeping his sense of humor right until the end.
In addition to his beloved and devoted wife, Delphia, survivors include his children, Rosette Battista, Vincent Granuzzo and his wife, Cindy, and Victor Granuzzo and his wife, Barbara; his brother, Vinnie Granuzzo and his wife, Judy; grandchildren, Denny Battista, Bryan Battista and his wife, Kathleen, Valerie Keays and her husband, Phil, Nick Granuzzo and his wife, K, Vincent Granuzzo and Danielle Granuzzo; his great-grandson, Dylan Keays; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, Anthony Granuzzo, and his son-in-law Denis Battista.
Family will receive their friends on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Entombment will follow in the Poughkeepsie Rural Community Mausoleum, with military honors.
