Darlis Carol Glick, resident of Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Beacon, New York, died Saturday afternoon, April 9. She was 79.
Darlis was born in Belleville, PA on March 15, 1943 to the late Thelma Stoltzfus Glick and the late Elam Glick. She was a graduate of Belleville Mennonite School (Belleville, PA) and attended Eastern Mennonite College/University (Harrisonburg, VA).
She was a bookkeeper for a number of businesses and organizations in the Newburgh (NY) area where she lived for the past 40 years. Earlier she lived and worked in Harrisburg (PA) and Newark (NJ).
She was an active and dedicated member of St. Gregory’s Orthodox Church in Wappingers Falls, NY where she also enjoyed singing in the choir.
Darlis is predeceased by her parents, a brother, Loren; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Holsopple Glick and a brother-in-law, Robert Wert. Survivors include a sister, Esther Wert of Goshen, IN; a brother, Del (Twila Frey) of Washington, DC; two nephews, Don Carufel-Wert (Terri), Middleton, WI and Dave Hockman-Wert (Cathy), Corvallis, OR; a niece, Renee Holsopple Glick, Brooklyn, NY; two great nieces, Lauren Carufel-Wert Henderson (Daniel) and Gabrielle Carufel-Wert; cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at St. Gregory’s Orthodox Church Thursday evening, May 19, 6:30 p.m. with Fr. Eric Tosi presiding. The service will be live-streamed and accessible across various platforms with links found on the parish website (stgregoryny.org). Cremation and other details have been arranged by Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, Wappingers Falls, NY (straubcatalanohalvey.com).
