
Obituary of Harry E. Jaycox, Sr.
Harry E. Jaycox, 81, of Wappingers Falls, NY, born March 3, 1943, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 3, 2025.
Harry was a devoted family man, deeply loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all those who had the experience of knowing him. He was very caring, always extending a helping hand.
Harry was hardworking man and was employed by the Town of Philipstown Highway Department for 30 years. After retiring, he worked for Surprise Lake Camp for over 20 years.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating. Just months before his 81st birthday, he was able to harvest an 8-point buck. He also loved spending time with his wife on their boat “Time 4 us”. All fellow boaters knew them as Popeye and Olive Oyl. He will be deeply missed by all.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Janet M. Jaycox; son Harry E. Jaycox; son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Claudia Jaycox; daughter Wendy Hare and her fiancé Danny Lattin; grandchildren Shawn M. Hare, Jane T. Hare and Amberly D. Jaycox; great-grandchildren Jojo Hare, Lilly Hare and Jordan Hare; brothers Nippy and Wayne Jaycox and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by a son Daniel K. Jaycox; his parents William and Henrietta Jaycox; and his siblings Irene, Fern, Beverly, Henrietta, William, Kenny and James.
Family and friends will gather on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 3:30 until 6:30 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home in Wappingers Falls. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. at the funeral home during visitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Hudson Valley Hospice.
