
Obituary of Richard J. Van Slambrouck
Richard J. Van Slambrouck, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Sunday, March 2, 2025 at his home. He was 87.
Son of the late Bernard and Lois Mack Van Slambrouck, he was born August 3, 1937 in Monroe, Michigan. He married the former Anita Rimmi on November 30, 1964. Mrs. Van Slambrouck survives at home.
Prior to his retirement, Richard worked as an engineer with IBM in Poughkeepsie. He also had his CNA certification. He was active in St. Mary’s Parish in Wappingers Falls where he was a former member of the parish council and heavily involved in the Pro Life movement.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Karen Gatz and her husband, Bill of Cutchogue, New York; his son, David Van Slambrouck and his wife, Awilda of Clermont , Florida; his grandchildren, Thomas, Amanda, Emily, Claire, and Katherine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by all of his eight siblings James, Eugene, William, John, Robert, Thomas, Sylvia, and Joanne.
Family and friends will gather on Monday, March 10, 2025 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Mary’s Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls following at 12 noon. Interment will then follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Wappingers Falls.
