Obituary of Christine E. Flavin

Christine (Chris) E. Flavin, 78, a longtime Fishkill resident, passed away peacefully at Hospice House, Hyde Park.  Chris was raised in Poughkeepsie by her loving parents Raymond and Elizabeth Flavin. 

While growing up in Spackenkill, she enjoyed fishing with her Dad on Bullfrog Pond and horseback riding with friends.  She remained close to her childhood friends throughout her life. Chris was a proud graduate of Georgetown University. When recalling her education, she often spoke about her year abroad studying in France.  There too she gathered many friends who she cherished her lifetime.  Most important to Chris was the annual September Georgetown friends reunion in Narragansett.  One other highlight was meeting her friend Todd Karn up at Saratoga Racetrack every August to enjoy the horses.

Chris was an enthusiastic animal lover. For years she enjoyed her beautiful horse Drambuie (Buie) and riding up at Roseview Stable.  She adopted two whippets, had parrots and received comfort over the last few months from her beloved cat GiGi.

Chris enjoyed a career in banking in mortgage origination.  Her first bank position was at First Savings and Loan in Poughkeepsie.  There she met Brian and Donna Medici, who were able to support her in the final few months of her life.  Through the years she worked at other local banks. 

Chris is predeceased by her parents.  She is survived by caring friends who are like family, maybe even closer. 

A graveside service will be held at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery on Friday May 16, 2025 at 11:30.
