Obituary of Peter A. Giangaspro, Jr.
Peter Anthony Giangaspro, Jr. (July 10, 1956 – June 03, 2025)
It is with a heavy heart we share the news that Peter Anthony Giangaspro, Jr., 68, of Highland, NY, passed away June 03, 2025, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center following a 6-month battle with cancer.
Peter or “Pete” was a friendly and verbose person with a sense of adventure. He loved his family, nature and hunting, and everything to do with motorcycles. An avid reader, Pete welcomed the chance to play chess, discuss politics, and travel.
Peter was born in Manhattan in 1956, the first child of Peter Giangaspro, Sr. and Nella Giangaspro, who worked hard to ensure he and his younger siblings, Gina and John, were well cared for. He graduated from John Jay High School before studying at Marist College. In January 1978, Pete joined the Navy where he traveled extensively and was honorably discharged in January 1984. Pete worked for the Wappingers Central School District for 30 years and was active in the WFW Union retiring in 2022.
Even in retirement, Pete’s passion for motorcycles led him to work part time at Woodstock Harley Davidson where he enjoyed meeting and talking with others who shared his enthusiasm for riding.
Peter married the love of his life, Barbara, on July 01, 1995, and they spent over 30 tender years together until his passing.
Family was everything to Pete and being a Poppi (grandfather) was the highlight of his life.
Peter was preceded in death by his father Peter, Sr. and is survived by his wife Barbara; his children Nicole (Andrew), Kristopher (Nicoletta), Alexander (Janine) and Emily (Andrew); his grandchildren Carter, Nella, Lily, and Frankie; his mother Nella; his siblings Gina and John (Stacy); and his nieces and nephews Jessica, Hannah, Gino, Anthony, Meredith, Sarah and Allison.
Viewing will be held at Straub, Catalano, and Halvey in Wappingers Falls on Tuesday June 10th from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday June 11th at 11:30am, followed by entombment at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice and/or the American Cancer Society.
