Michael A. Raccioppo Obituary

Michael A. Raccioppo, 49, a long-time resident of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday, July 9, 2025. He was born in Peekskill, New York, the son of Nicholas J. Raccioppo and Stephanie (Novak) Raccioppo. He graduated from Spackenkill High School and then earned a degree at Marist College. He worked as an automotive service writer and manager.

In high school, Mike was a dedicated soccer athlete for both his high school and the Town of Poughkeepsie Soccer Club on a travel team. He enjoyed drawing and art, played guitar (without ever taking a lesson), and always had a big booming voice to announce his arrival. He could always make people laugh whether it was quirky words and sayings or sharing funny videos and memes. He enjoyed traveling to Florida with his daughter to visit Disney World, his sister and her family, and getting sun-burnt on “Rotisserie Island,” as he liked to call it. He even earned the nickname Mikey Two-Shirts for always wearing two shirts, even in extremely hot weather.

One of his proudest moments was becoming a grandfather. He loved playing with Kaiden and teasing Emma. He would come home from work and shout, “Where are my grandbabies?” Everyone knew when Pop-Pop came home. He also enjoyed tinkering on cars and riding his motorcycle. Mike was an avid follower of politics and enjoyed keeping abreast of current events.

Michael leaves behind his daughter, Brooke and her fiancé, Michael, his mother, Stephanie; his sister, Nicole Murphy, and her husband, Pete Cookingham; his brother, Marc Raccioppo; and his beloved grandchildren, Kaiden and Emma. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, a nephew, and great friends.

The family will receive their friends on Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 2 to 4pm at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
