Margaret Mary Vogt, beloved wife, sister, mother and grandmother returned to God on Friday, September 5, 2025, leaving a void in our hearts that we may never fill.
Margaret was born on November 20, 1944, and raised in the Bronx by loving parents, John Patrick Hanna and Honora ‘Nora’ Hanna. She enjoyed a sweet childhood growing up alongside beloved brother, John Michael Hanna.
Margaret attended both Dominican and Manhattanville Colleges for degrees in education. She enjoyed teaching and loved working with children. She taught science, math and French. It was while teaching that she met the love of her life, her husband, John F. Vogt, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage before her passing. She was also a longtime parishioner and choir member of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls.
Margaret was a devoted mother to Jennifer Axtmann and Brian Vogt who will never forget the unconditional love she brought to their lives. She was blessed with three dearly loved grandchildren, Dylan and Evan Axtmann, and Quinn Vogt.
Margaret found special joy in faith and family. She spent her early adult years serving God as Sister John Noreen with the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt. She was a living example of her faith. She was a force of kindness, patience, empathy and forgiveness until her final breath. Margaret was a beacon of light and the comfort of home for her family and friends who will miss her immensely.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nora Hanna. She is survived by her brother, John “Jack” Hanna; her faithful husband, John F. Vogt; and her children, Jennifer E. Axtmann and Brian R. Vogt. She is also survived by loving grandchildren, Dylan, Evan, and Quinn, who are so happy to have known her. To know her is to love her and we are so grateful that we did.
