Peter John Brent, Sr. Obituary

Peter John Brent, Sr., of Wappingers Falls, New York left his earthly life on September 19, 2025 at home in the arms of his wife Christina Renee Brent. He was born on October 19, 1942 and was raised in the Bronx and in Highland Lake, NY. His mother was Catherine Mors Brent and his father was Michael Brent, who died in the line of duty in WWII when Peter was just two years old.

Peter moved to Wappingers Falls in September 1965 and taught business subjects for 21 years in the Wappingers School Central District, most of those years at John Jay High School in Hopewell Junction. Being a teacher was something he was very proud of. Some of his students became lifelong friends, and some of his best friends came from that very first year. Anyone who knew Peter knew that he was a teacher even out of the classroom. He found great joy in educating others in areas that he found easy to explain, ever the kind and patient man. He was a proud Boston College graduate and then became a CFP in 1986, thus founding Brent Financial Group where he was active until his passing. He loved what he did, and he did it well. Peter believed in being charitable and in doing good works. He was an Eagle Scout and lived his life as such. He spent his life volunteering for organizations, such as the Alzheimer's Association and the Community Foundation, and was active in his church as a deacon and on various committees.

Peter married the love of his life, Christina Renee, on January 4, 2013 and began a love story for the ages. They enjoyed everything they did, whether it was traveling or just sitting in the quiet together. They were inseparable and truly lived the "happily ever after" found in fairy tales. Peter is survived by his wife, Christina; his three children, Laurie Brent Schiavone (Frank), Michael Brent (Marisa), and Peter Brent, Jr. (Suki); his three step-children, Greyson Cohen, Ashley Torres (Eduardo), and Brittany Cogan; his nine grandchildren, Emmilee, Aubree, Maxwell, Garrett, Jacob, Nathan, Lucien, Hudson, and Aurora; and more supportive family and friends, too many to mention.

A celebration of life will be held at New Hackensack Reformed Church, 1580 Route 376 in Wappingers Falls on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m. followed by the service at 11 a.m. There will be a private interment the following week for family.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Peter by making a donation to the Hudson Valley Food Bank, 965 Albany-Shaker Road, Latham, NY 12110. That was a charity close to his heart, and our charity of choice for us as a couple.
