Lacey Jean Snowden, of Wappingers Falls, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 21, 2025, at the age of 42.

Born on October 8, 1982, in Poughkeepsie, Lacey was the cherished daughter of the late Jean K. Crowley Snowden and James Alan Snowden.

For nearly two decades, Lacey was a beloved fixture at the Grinnell Library, a career that perfectly mirrored her lifelong passion for literature and learning. As a dedicated member of the library staff, she shared her deep love of reading with countless patrons. Her colleagues and the Wappingers Falls community will forever remember her as a friendly, familiar face, always ready with a thoughtful book recommendation.

Outside of her work, Lacey was a devoted fan of tabletop and video games, finding particular joy in the strategic worlds of Dungeons and Dragons and the imaginative universe of Pokémon.

Lacey’s memory will be forever cherished by her devoted niece, Sara Snowden, and nephew, Nicholas Snowden, of Hopewell Junction, NY. She also leaves behind her loving goddaughter, Alleria Estrada, and her parents, Warren and Crystal of Surprise, AZ, along with many cherished friends who were like family to her.

Lacey was preceded in death by her brother, Keith Leyland Snowden.

The interment of Lacey's ashes will take place in the family plot at the Wappingers Falls Rural Cemetery on Monday, December 22nd, at 11:30 a.m.

A Celebration of Lacey’s life will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the New Hackensack Firehouse. All who cared for Lacey are invited to gather for lunch and dessert as we find comfort in each other and remember her life together.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lacey's memory to the American Cancer Society, a tribute that honors her life and helps fund vital, lifesaving research.
