Keith W. Slade Obituary

Keith W. Slade, a resident of Wappingers Falls for the past 30 years, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 75 years old.


Keith was born in Utica, New York on March 19, 1950 to Ida and Kenneth Slade. He was educated in Utica, graduating from St. Agnes Grammar School, Notre Dame High School and Utica College of Syracuse University with a Bachelor Degree in Business in 1972.


On November 24, 1984 he married his soul mate, Cindy (Martell) at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Elmsford, New York. They shared 41 wonderful years together.


Keith began his professional career in government working as a Revenue Officer with the Internal Revenue Service. He transitioned to the private sector as Credit Manager with Mercedes Benz Corporation. A career change afforded him the opportunities to work with MCI/Verizon Telecommunications as a Customer Service/Technical Support Specialist. In 2004, he went into private practice providing accounting and tax preparation to small businesses and individual tax clients.


Keith is survived by his wife, Cindy; brother-in-law, Richard Martell of Rhinebeck, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Donald Alberico of New Hartford, New York; his nephew, Christian Lutz of Chile, New York; his extended family of Vito Martino (Jackie) of New York, New York and Noah Martino of Albany, New York whom he guided through their high school and college years. He was predeceased by his parents, Ida and Kenneth Slade of Utica and his sister, Christine Madan of Tinton Falls, New Jersey.


Keith’s special passion was cars.  He collected model cars and trucks and was up to date on the newest passenger cars or trucks, sporting a new vehicle every 3 to 4 years. He also enjoyed swimming, cooking, making Christmas cookies and his yearly vacation to Aruba. Keith’s warm and genuine friendliness were known to all who met him.


Keith was an active parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction where he was a past trustee, a member of the safety and security team, Eucharistic minister and usher.


Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12 at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82 in Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow in St. Denis Cemetery, Beekman Road in Hopewell Junction.
