Jo Ellen Irwin, a resident of Saugerties and formerly of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Monday, December 29, 2025 in Saugerties. She was 81.

Daughter of the late Dale and Bernice Beach Roarabaugh, she was born January 20, 1944 in Six Mile Run, Pennsylvania.

Jo Ellen worked as a nurse prior to her retirement. She enjoyed spending time in nature and was proud of the zinnias she grew in her garden. Jo Ellen was happiest when she was helping other people.

Survivors include her son, Jason Prizzi and his wife, Julie of Hurley; her grandchildren, Garrick, Jonathan, Nick, Chris, Olivia, John and Norah; her sisters, Judy Martin of Georgia, Rhonda Folk and her husband, Matt of Pennsylvania and Tina Breier and her husband, Randy of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sons, Gary Irwin and Marc Irwin; her brother, Robert Roarabaugh and sister-in-law, Edna Roarabaugh.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the spring at Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street in Wappingers Falls.
