Eugene Joseph Vidunas, a 25 year resident of Middletown and formerly of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Westchester Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 63.

Son of the late Eugene and Helen Jerostic Vidunas, he was born on November 7, 1962 in Mount Pleasant, NY. He married Bernadette Anhalt in 1987 in Poughkeepsie; Mrs. Vidunas survives at home.

Eugene previously worked as chemist in vaccine research and development for Pfizer in Pearl River. He was most recenty employed as a chemist for KDC/One in Port Jervis. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hiking and biking throughout the Hudson Valley.

In addition to his wife, Bernadette, Eugene is survived by his five sons, Joseph Vidunas of Middletown, Jake Vidunas and his partner, Samantha Vargas of Wappingers Falls, Stefan Vidunas of Brooklyn, Owen Vidunas of Hickory, NC, and John Vidunas, his wife, Kristen and their daughter, Eleanor of Greensboro, NC; and his sister, Janice Kelly, her partner, Robert DeLuca and niece, Jessica Kelly of Wappingers Falls.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his nephew, Shawn Kelly.

Family will receive their friends on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mamakating First Aid Squad in Wurtsboro or the Wurtsboro Community Church Food Pantry.
