Frances C. Vergili (Orsini) passed away peacefully on April 1st at the age of 98.   She was born on February 19, 1928 in the Bronx. 

Surviving family members include her sons, Richard (Joyce) and Frank; grandchildren, Michael, Tamara, Mark, Christopher, Garrett and Dominic; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Mylie, Lexi, Lucia and Alice; and daughters-in-law, Katherine Vergili and Maureen Hoecker.  She is also survived by many nephews, nieces and their children.

Frances was predeceased by her husband, Mario, and her son, Kenneth.

Frances grew up in the Bronx and graduated from Walton High School.  She lived in the Bronx with her family until 1964 when they relocated to Poughkeepsie, NY.  Frances served as a bookkeeper with a number of firms, the last being at Marist College.

Frances loved to dance any time she had a chance.  She did both ballroom dancing and line dancing as well as danced at all special events that had music and a dance floor. 

She also had a love for animals as exemplified by all her beloved dogs and cats, most notably Fluffy, Rocky, Benny and Coco.

She was also an excellent cook as the family always gathered during holidays and Sundays to enjoy the feast she prepared.  Everyone loved her gravy that many tried to duplicate but could never master.  She was an inspiration to many to become engaged in the culinary industry beginning with her son, Kenneth, and a number of grandchildren.

Family will receive their friends on Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Entombment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frances' name to your local SPCA or Hospice.
