It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Linda C. Taft, who passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 76 years of age. She was born February 2, 1950 to her late parents Gordon and Selma (Ruf) VanDemark.   

Linda was a devoted wife, loving stepmother, caring sister, and a cherished friend. She embraced her role in our family with love and generosity and offered guidance that will never be forgotten. 

Linda was a proud graduate of Vassar Brothers Hospital School of Nursing and worked as an ICU nurse at Vassar Hospital for many years, then continued in private practice at the office of Dr. Steven Taft before retiring.

She was passionate about community service and volunteering spending countless hours assisting numerous charitable organizations.  Linda was on the board and served as president of The DC Medical Society Auxiliary and VBH Alumnae Assoc. She served on the board of The Children’s Home, The Junior League of Poughkeepsie, Friends of Locust Grove, The American Cancer Society, The Barrett House, and Cunneen Hackett Arts Center. She was a past member of the Poughkeepsie Garden Club and Poughkeepsie Tennis Club.

Linda found joy in gardening, decorating, reading with her book group, and spending time with loved ones.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Steven Taft, her two stepchildren Codi (Adam) Silvia, Casey (Christen) Taft and four grandchildren James, Ava, Lena, and Cecily.  She is also survived by siblings Beverly Davidson, Gary (Linda) VanDemark, Rickey VanDemark, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her younger sister Jill VanDemark.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Wappingers Falls Rural Cemetery, Wappingers Falls, NY.
