Joh Dharma, formerly known as Joseph (Joe) Pastore, passed away on April 19, 2026.

After returning to school at age 34 as a non-traditional college student, he earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Stony Brook University, followed by a master's degree in Liberal Studies from Stony Brook University and a master's degree in mathematics from CUNY Queens College. Everything Joh achieved was built through extraordinary perseverance, hard work, and determination. He went on to dedicate 13 years to teaching mathematics at Queens College, where he was known for his passion, his contributions to the department, and his unwavering belief in his students’ potential.

Joh was a thoughtful and trustworthy listener, deeply loved by his close friends who became his chosen family. He was a person of strong convictions who was never afraid to speak up for what he believed was right. Those who knew him well also knew a gentler side of him, marked by kindness, loyalty, and genuine care for others. He found joy in the outdoors, yoga, dogs, and shared inside jokes. He cherished the simple moments spent in the company of those he loved.

Joh is remembered with affection, gratitude, and respect. We miss him dearly. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
