John William Bell was born on March 5, 1950, in Beacon, New York, to the late John and Claire Bell.

John lived in the beautiful Hudson Valley, NY and called Hyde Park home for the last 47 years.

John loved living! He loved watching movies, touring the Hudson Valley, and he absolutely loved going to the fair. Music brought him great joy, and we certainly cannot forget his love for coffee. 

If you knew John, you knew his love of coffee!

John also enjoyed spending time with friends who became family and creating countless memories. Whether it was sharing a beer with friends during holiday celebrations, spending time at the bowling alley, or simply enjoying each other's company, those moments meant so much to him and to those who shared them with him.

John had a special way of lighting up a room with his laughter. He loved playing little tricks on people and would often tell everyone it was his birthday. To John, every day was a birthday—a day worth celebrating.

John will be remembered not only for the things he did, but for the kindness, strength, warmth, and joy he shared so freely with others. He touched many lives and left behind memories that will be treasured forever.

May John's spirit live in the stories we tell, the lessons we carry, and the love that will forever remain in our hearts. Though he may no longer be with us, his laughter, friendship, and gentle spirit will never be forgotten. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we hold close to the love, laughter, and memories we shared.

Please join us as we gather to honor his life at 10 am, on Tuesday June 9, 2026, at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home located at 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. The wake will take place at 10 am with a service following at 11 am. Interment will follow in the Greystone Plot at Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street in Wappingers Falls. A gathering of family and friends will happen immediately afterwards at his home in Hyde Park.
