John G. Marmillo was born on February 25, 1939, the son of John J. and Lena (Rinaldi) Marmillo, and passed away on June 8, 2026.

He was a graduate of Mechanicville High School, the Cohoes Conservatory of Music, the University of Vermont and the State University of New York at New Paltz. John's education career began in 1961 as a teacher of mathematics and ended with retirement in 1997 as Superintendent of Schools for the Wappingers Central School District. His love of music, photography and travel were his lifelong interests.

On July 2, 1966 John married Barbara (Iko) Marmillo who survives at home. He is also survived by his brother, Gerald (MaryAnn) Marmillo; his nephew, Jonathan (Catherine) Marmillo and their daughter, Emily; as well as many cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Entombment will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. All attending are invited to share in a luncheon immediately following.
