Linda Dykman Obituary
Linda Dykman, a nine year resident of Taconic at Beacon and formerly of East Hartford, CT and Wappingers Falls, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. She was 62.
Daughter of the late Robert J. and Patricia A. (Till) Dykman, she was born on June 10, 1963 in Poughkeepsie.
Linda graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in 1981, where she was a trumpet player in their marching band. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Math at the State University of New York in Potsdam. Early in her career, she worked for Travelers Insurance in Hartford, CT as a computer programmer. Prior to her retirement, she was a Systems Developer IV for the Connecticut Judicial Branch in East Hartford, CT.
Linda was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls, where she helped for many years with their food pantry. In her spare time, she volunteered her time to many. She helped with meditations during the rosary at Taconic at Beacon, where she became an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary, and was also a member of their resident council. She was a former member of the Town of Vernon Fire Department Auxiliary, volunteer EMT for Windsor Locks Ambulance Corps and a volunteer patient assistant at Rockville Hospital prompt care center. She was also an avid hockey and auto racing fan, and enjoyed crocheting.
Survivors include her siblings, Brian (wife, Julie), James, Theresa, Sandra and Steven; aunt, Carolyn; uncle, Richard; and several cousins.
In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her uncle, Raymond and his wife, Rose, and aunt, Nancy.
Family will receive their friends on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in the family plot in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
Linda’s fellow residents and staff at Taconic at Beacon were like a second family to her. Their care and friendship they have shown her over the years is greatly appreciated.
