Varick Van Wyck “Van” Stringham, Jr., 86, of Wappingers Falls, NY, died June 12, 2026, at his home following a brief illness.
Born on May 24, 1940, in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of Varick Van Wyck Stringham, Sr. and Gertrude Watson Stringham.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University in 1963. From 1963 to 1965 he served in the United States Navy. He later earned a Master of Business Administration from New York University in 1968.
Van had a successful career running a company that supplied equipment to dairies across the eastern United States. He was a member of the Hopewell Reformed Church.
He was an avid hiker and skier with a passion for the Adirondack Mountains. He was an early Adirondack 46er, and he summited all 111 high peaks in the Northeast. He volunteered at numerous charities over the years, including Habitat for Humanity and the Adirondack Mountain Club.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nancy Stringham; his sister Edith Tepper; five children; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Varick Stringham III.
A celebration of Van’s life will be held privately at a later date.
