Stephen Helmold of Fishkill passed away on June 14, 2026 at the age of 73. 

He was born on July 8, 1952 in New York, NY to the late Alfred and Frieda Helmold. 

Many who knew Steve remember him as a kind, generous and thoughtful man. An audiophile from a young age and a devoted fan of The Beatles, he was always eager to discover and enjoy both classic and new rock music. After his retirement from IBM, Steve dedicated his time to volunteering at the local animal shelter and the Dutchess County Habitat for Humanity Re-Store. He treasured time spent with family, found joy in worshipping with friends at the Fishkill Church of the Nazarene and took great pleasure in caring for his cat, Willie. 

He is survived by his first cousin, Elsa Nicodemus, and many loving relatives. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street in Wappingers Falls, with a funeral service beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The family will hold a private interment of Steve’s cremated remains at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel at a later date.
