Beverly “Jane” Konitz, 88, passed away on August 23, 2026. Jane lived in Wappingers Falls, NY prior to moving to Woodland Pond in New Paltz, NY in 2020. She was surrounded by family, loved ones, and several close friends each step of the way. Jane was born to Virginia Cook Barker and George Barker in Greenwich, CT on September 5, 1937.

On June 20th, 1959 Jane married the love of her life, Clifford Konitz, at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Dover, NJ. Married for 63 years, Jane was able to travel the world with her loving husband, Cliff seeing beautiful sights in Belgium. The two were also able to travel to Israel, Spain, Italy, Holland, Amsterdam, Paris, the Swiss Alps, Waterloo, Russia, Prussia, Greece and Vienna, documenting their journey in photos and scrapbooks along the way.

During Jane and Cliff’s marriage, the two were able to create memories and share the beauty of the Adirondacks with their grandchildren for the past 25 years at Silver Bay YMCA.  Jane sat on the Silver Bay Council, and was an active member of the community, not simply at Silver Bay, but in her local communities as well. Jane was known as a force to be reckoned with, and an advocate among her Rural & Migrant Ministry (RMM) colleagues. Jane was not only one of the founding members of RMM, but had served as RMM’s first secretary, as well as serving on the board for several years, thus beginning her career in advocacy in 1981. Jane Konitz was a retired Christian Educator, having worked for the New Hackensack Reformed Church in Wappingers Falls for 27 years. Jane was a Certified Associate in Ministry for Christian Education of the Reformed Church in America, and was the RCA's representative to the formation committee of Rural & Migrant Ministry. There was truly nothing that Jane could not accomplish once she set her mind to it!

Jane was predeceased by her husband, Cliff. She is survived by her daughter, Robin; her grandchildren, Jordan and Eden; her sister, Alice Newport; sister in law, Joan Cooper; nephews, Joel(Samantha) Newport, Shawn(Sandy) Newport; niece, Marcia(Joe) Adinolfi; and 3 great-nieces, Kathryn Adinolfi, Eryn(David)Sheridan and Madie(Benjamin)Torok.

Jane’s memory will be honored with a memorial on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at New Hackensack Reformed Church, 1580 NY-376, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. Visitation will be held from 2-3PM and a memorial service at 3PM.
