Kristin L. Catalano
Kristin L. Catalano was born and raised in Watervliet, a suburb in New York State's Capitol Region. Kristin is proud to say she is a second generation funeral director. She is a graduate of Catholic Central High School and Hudson Valley Community College, where she received her degree in funeral service with Excellence in Restorative Art. After attaining her New York State License in Funeral Directing, Kristin attended Northern Westchester School of Hairdressing and Cosmetology, receiving her cosmetology certificate and license.
Kristin keeps active in the community. She was the repeat chairperson of "Evening in the Park", a fundraising event for the Village of Wappingers Falls. Kristin was a board member and past president of the Wappingers Falls Business and Professional Association, where she remains a member. She is a parishioner, former trustee and member of the finance committee for St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls, where she sings in their choir. She is also a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Queen of Peace. As her children are students of the school, she has become very active in St. Mary's School in Wappingers Falls, tirelessly fundraising for their new playground and putting on an annual pasta dinner. Kristin was awarded the Dutchess County Chamber of Commerce, 40 Under 40 Shaker Award in 2013. This award is bestowed annually to 40 people under the age of 40 who have shown a strong commitment to the Hudson Valley, honoring the next generation of leaders in our area. Most recently, she was appointed to the Wappingers Falls Economic Development Committee. She was also invited to join the Greystone Foundation Board in 2016. As a board member, Kristin has fund-raised for Greystone's Leap For Autism since 2016, participating in their annual skydive. She was awarded the 2018 "Unsung Hero Award" for her commitment to the Village of Wappingers Falls. Kristin is also a longtime volunteer and correspondence secretary for the Wappingers Falls Meals-on-Wheels Program.
William J. Halvey
William J. Halvey was born and raised in Beacon, New York. Bill is a third generation funeral director. He graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School and went on to the New England Institute at Mount Ida College where he graduated with his degree in funeral service. After becoming a licensed funeral director, Bill worked with his father at Halvey Funeral Home in Beacon until 2005.
Bill is a member and past-president of the Wappingers Falls Rotary Club. He is also a 3rd Degree member of the Wappingers Knights of Columbus, Council 1636. Bill is president of the Dutchess-Putnam-Ulster Funeral Directors Association. In 2016 and 2019, he was elected trustee of the Grinnell Library District. He was appointed as vice president of their board for two years and now serves as vice president of finance. He keeps active in the community, volunteering for the Wappingers Falls Meals-on-Wheels Program. Bill enjoys running and is often spotted running through the Village. He has participated in several races including a few with some of the team at the funeral home.
Kristin and Bill met in 2002 while working together. Together they purchased Straub Funeral Home in April 2005. They have four children, Francisco "Frankie", Maria Teresa, Rocco and Salvatore "Sonny".
As business partners, Kristin and Bill continue to contribute to various causes and organizations in the community and surrounding areas. They are both members of the Dutchess-Putnam-Ulster, the New York State and the National Funeral Directors Associations, as well as the Dutchess County Chamber of Commerce. Together, they are happy to make their lives in Wappingers Falls where the Halvey family funeral tradition began over 85 years ago.
