Having known Mark since he was seventeen years old is even a bigger honor now. Mark was truly one of the most outgoing ,friendly and nicest people on the planet. He will be missed. My condolences to you all. I only knew Mark for a short time however I will always remember the time I had with him. I am Marks Platoon SGT from B Troop. We had very good times together while training for this mission. You never had to ask Mark to do anything as it was already done. Mark Exemplified what a soldier is. His devotion to his daughter and family was a driving force for him. It is a great loss for 3rd Platoon B troop, the State of New York and the National Guard. SGT Mark Palmateer take charge of the troops and keep your powder dry. You will be missed.

Palmateer Family...my heart goes out to all of you and what you are going through. He died a Hero and for all of us! As I sit here crying, I also sit here smiling knowing what a character Mark was.
