Obituary of Robert W. Pasco

Robert W. Pasco Robert W. Pasco, a 25-year resident of Wappingers Falls died at home, surrounded by his family on Monday, September 1, 2008, following a brief illness. He was 61. Son of Ruth Bell Pasco of Salem, OH, and the late Robert Pasco, he was born on February 22, 1947 in Salem, Ohio. He excelled in his academic endeavors, earning his BS in Metallurgy and Materials Science from Carnegie Mellon University, and a PhD in Solid State Science and Technology from Syracuse University. He worked for IBM as a Senior Engineer, recently celebrating his 25th service anniversary. He is also listed in the 1998-1999 Who's Who in Science and Engineering. Bob volunteered his time at the annual Wappingers Central School District Science Fair and Dutchess County Regional Science Fair, where he served as a judge for many years. On February 10, 2001, he married his loving wife, Linda, who survives at home. He is also survived by a sister, Dora Handy of Salem, OH; a brother, David Pasco of Salem, OH; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; a stepson, Christopher Milone of Astoria; two stepdaughters, Victoria Carroll and her husband, Patrick of Wappingers Falls; Vanessa Francis and her husband, Edward of Poughkeepsie. He was also the beloved grandfather of Morgan Carroll, Brendan Carroll and Aidan Francis. His dear friend Carolyn Pecchia and her daughters, Veronika and Katerina Placek, also survive him. He is predeceased by a brother, Samuel Pasco. Bob was a fun-loving guy who loved to spend time with his family. He and his wife could often be found at their second home in Lewes, DE where they would spend countless hours walking on the boardwalk or enjoying the beach. With his dry sense of humor and quick wit, Bob always enjoyed trading barbs with those he was close to. A well-read lover of learning, Bob was always ready to discuss a wide variety of subjects from politics (of which he held very strong views) to his Syracuse Orangemen basketball. He will be missed by all who knew him. Family will receive their friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 4 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9 in Fishkill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob's name to the American Cancer Society, 45 Reade Place, Poughkeepsie, New York 12601.
