Obituary of Daniel R. Robinson

Daniel R. Robinson Daniel Richard Robinson, 44, entered into rest on the 9th of October at Mt. Valley Hospice after a valiant battle with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.. A native of Beacon, NY, Mr. Robinson moved to Fort Plain in 2002. He also resided in Fishkill from 1980-82, Cold Spring from 1986-90 and Wappingers Falls from 2000-02. Born at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie March 2, 1964, he was a son of Richard E. Robinson and Carolyn E. Brooker Minard. His grandparents were Eugene and Anna Ireland Robinson and Russell J., Sr. and Eda Knapp Brooker. Dan attended Beacon schools until the 11th grade and graduated from John Jay Senior High School in Hopewell Junction in 1982. He received his A.S. degree from Champlain College in Burlington, VT in 1984 and his B.S. degree from Mt. St. Mary College in Newburgh in 1990. During the 1980's he was a clerk at Walsh Pharmacy and a driver for both Budney Flower Shop and Batt Florist of Beacon and was an assistant manager at KB Toys. He was a process operator at IBM, East Fishkill/Poughkeepsie in 1988 and also from 1990-92. From 1992-2000, he was a real estate appraiser with Lakewood Appraisal in Fishkill. He ran his own business Brookwood and Beehive Appraisal. He was elected assessor in Minden in 2003 and direct support staff at Lexington Center from 2004-06. He was a past treasurer and life member of the Dutchess County Genealogical Society and past trustee and treasurer of the Fort Plain Museum. Daniel is survived by his father of Land 'O, FL, his step-father William Minard, Jr. of Wappingers Falls, two brothers David E. Robinson and his wife Laura S. of Doylestown, PA and Douglas J. and his wife Corinne M. of Jacksonville, FL, a sister Janine L. McQueen and her husband Michael D. of Beacon. Step siblings in T. Minard and Nina M. Holt both of Poughkeepsie, four nieces Kasey, Mary Jane and Samantha Robinson and Reese McQueen and on nephew Austin McQueen. Step-nephews include Michael J. and Shawn McQueen and Brian LaForge as well as step-niece Leslie LaForge. Danny's uncle R. James Brooker, Jr. and his wife Sandra J. survive in Westbrook, ME along with his aunt Laurie G. Muro and her husband Peter J. of Lake Ariel, PA, a great-uncle D. Robert Knapp Jr. of Deland, FL, nine cousins, many extended cousins and several close friends. He was predeceased by his mother on January 9, 2008 and a favorite great aunt he cared for, Irene Holmes in 2002. Family will receive their friends on Monday, October 13, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. Funeral service at the funeral home Tuesday October 14th at 10 a.m. Interment Fishkill Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Danny's name to Dutchess Co.
