Obituary of Alice Jeannette Riegger

Alice Jeannette Riegger Alice Jeannette Riegger of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of the Bronx, entered into rest Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Garden Valley Manor in Kansas City. She was 96. Daughter of the late Christopher and Anna Eisley Schweitzer, she was born on January 18, 1913 in the Bronx. She was the cherished wife of Oscar Riegger; they were married June 20, 1937 at the Church of St. Anthony of Padua in the Bronx. Mr. Riegger predeceased his wife in January of 1999. Mrs. Riegger worked in the claims department of Met Life in New York City for many years. She was a member of the White Cross Fishing Club in the Bronx. She also held office in the Ladies Auxiliary of the White Cross Fishing Club. Survivors include her daughters, Roberta Helene Reupke and her husband, Edward of Kansas City, MO, and Alice Stephanie Parchinski and her husband, Kenneth of Wappingers Falls; grandchildren, Kenneth John, Christopher Stephen and Michael Brian Parchinski, and Eric Reupke; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Ashley, Nicholas, Alexander, Kyle, Erin, Emily and John Michael; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Riegger was predeceased by her brother, Vincent Schweitzer, and her sister, Bertha Biedermann. Family will receive their friends on Thursday, July 16, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, July 16 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alice's name to Mount Alvernia Retreat House, 158 Delavergne Avenue, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
