Obituary of Myles E. King

Myles E. King Myles E. King of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Thursday, July 23, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital. He was 68. Son of the late George King, Sr. and the late Elnora King, he was born on February 3, 1941 in Smithfield, Virginia. He married the former Janice Hanlon on March 16, 1994 at the Reformed Church of Beacon; Mrs. King survives at home. Myles worked in maintenance at Castle Point VAMC for several years. He was a member of Alcoholic Anonymous in Dutchess County for over 30 years. In his spare time, he loved writing poems, fishing and wrestling. Myles was also a huge fan of the New York Yankees. He was a special man who loved everyone; he never had a bad word to say about anyone. In addition to his wife, Janice, he is survived by his children, Jacqueline King, Shirley Carlton and Anthony Hanlon; his siblings, Gladys King, George King, Elnora King, McKinley Cornick, Robert James Cornick and Lionel Cornick; his brothers-in-law, Charles Hanlon, William Hanlon and Frank Hanlon; his sisters-in-law, Barbara Dunlavey, Regina DeMaroney and Alma Campbell; grandchildren, Laticia, Jamel, Shatoya, Scott and Tierra; great-grandchildren, Jalaya and Jania; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. King was predeceased by his siblings, Linwood Talifero, Vera Talifero, Vesti King and Arthur Cornick, Jr. Family will receive their friends on Thursday, July 30, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will follow visitation at 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Wappingers Rural Cemetery, Wappingers Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Myles' name to The Reformed Church of Beacon, 1113 Wolcott Ave., Beacon, NY 12508, or Alcoholics Anonymous, P.O. Box 459, New York, NY 10163.
