Obituary of Irena M. Oginski

Irena M. Oginski Irena M. Oginski, a resident of Fishkill and formerly of Amsterdam, New York, entered into rest Wednesday April 21, 2010 at Elant at Fishkill. She was 81. Daughter of the late Fritz and Milda Schwerdtfeger, she was born January 4, 1929 in Kurtin, Germany. On November 10, 1948, she married Jerzy Oginski. Her husband preceded her in death April 10, 1994. Irena came to the United States in April of 1957. In addition to raising her family, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was a fan of the Mets and would always cheer on her favorite players. Survivors include her children, George Oginski and his wife, Jodie of Wappingers Falls, Victor Oginski of Schenectady, New York and Regina Oginski and her domestic partner, David Smith of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Corey M. Oginski, Stacey A. Lewis, Vickie Balch, Vincent A. Oginski, Amanda M. Oginski and Brian Oginski; and her great-grandchildren, Blake Balch, Avery Balch and Payton A. Lewis. Family will receive friends on Friday, April 23, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 24 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
