Mildred C. Bernardo
Mildred C. Bernardo, a resident of Town of Wappinger, entered into rest Monday, October 4, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 87.
Daughter of the late Angelo and Julia Montaldo, she was born November 17, 1922 in New Rochelle. On April 8, 1945, she married Anthony Bernardo, Jr. in the Bronx. Her husband preceded her in death, passing on July 17, 1982.
Mrs. Bernardo treasured her time taking care of her family. She also enjoyed reading and writing. Mrs. Bernardo was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls.
Survivors include her children, Sandra B. Porco and her husband, Gino of Wappingers Falls and Lawrence R. Bernardo of Pleasant Valley; her sisters, Ann Fusco of Garnerville, New York, Gloria Kindelson of Colorado and Lucille Behrmann of Nyack, New York; her grandchildren, Chiara Porco-Ohrvall and her husband, Matthew of Wappingers Falls and Joseph G. Porco of Wappingers Falls; her great-grandson, Noah Ohrvall and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Anthony, she was predeceased by her sister, Rose Cupolo and her brothers, Frank, Salvatore, Peter and Dominic Montaldo.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY, 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Friday, October 8 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
