GraceAnn B. McGarvey
GraceAnn B. McGarvey, a resident of New Hamburg, entered into rest Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 63.
Daughter of Johanna Lawton of Norwich, New York and the late Francis Lawton, she was born February 6, 1947 in Norwich. On March 29, 1969 at St. Bartholomew Church in Norwich, she married John B. McGarvey, II. Mr. McGarvey survives at home in New Hamburg.
GraceAnn was a Hairdresser and owned and operated Amazing Grace in New Hamburg. She was formerly an art teacher at St. Mary's School in Poughkeepsie and Wappingers Falls and loved to share her artistic creativity. She had also worked teaching at Richard I Beauty School. As her boys were growing up, she was actively involved with St. Mary's Mothers Guild and Our Lady of Lourdes Parent Association. She was also a Yankees fan. Most important to her was her family; she especially treasured her grandchildren.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by her three sons, John McGarvey, III of Conifer, Colorado, Michael McGarvey of Washington D.C. and Patric McGarvey of New Hamburg and her beloved grandchildren, Sullivan and Madeline McGarvey of Colorado.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 20 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
