Fr. Sebastian R. Buccellato, O.F.M. Fr. Sebastian R. Buccellato, O.F.M. of Mount Alvernia Friary in Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Thursday, November 4, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie. He was 85. Born on February 14, 1925 in Brooklyn, Robert Anthony Buccellato, was the son of the late Anthony and Celeste Nicastro Buccellato. He was received into the novitiate on July 14, 1944 and made his first profession on July 15, 1944. He was admitted to solemn vows on July 15, 1948 and ordained a priest on June 17, 1951. After numerous assignments throughout New York, Massachusetts, West Virginia, Ontario and Central America, Fr. Sebastian came to Mount Alvernia Friary in December 2005. He provided indispensable pastoral care to the Spanish-speaking in the area. "The thing about him I admired was his complete dedication to serving the Hispanic People. He was single minded in loving them and serving them..." Fr. Larry Dunham, O.F.M. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. at Mount Alvernia, 158 Delavergne Avenue in Wappingers Falls on Wednesday, November 10, 2010. A Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. and an Evening Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated for the Spanish-speaking community at 8 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 11 at Mount Alvernia.
