Obituary of James E. Napoli

James E. Napoli James E. Napoli, a former resident of Little River, South Carolina and longtime Poughkeepsie resident, entered into rest Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. He was 78. Son of the late Joseph and Stella Parren Napoli, he was born July 7, 1932 in Poughkeepsie. In 1951, he married the former Sue Gurney. Mrs. Napoli survives at home in Pleasant Valley. James proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955 when he was honorably discharged. He served aboard the USS Worcester and later joined the USS Worcester Association. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a design analyst at IBM in Poughkeepsie for thirty-eight years. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his three children, James J. Napoli and friend Coleen Tracy of Playa Del Rey, California, Nicole Laxgang and her husband, Edward of Pleasant Valley and Robert Napoli of Wappingers Falls; his daughter-in-law, Donna Napoli of Poughkeepsie; his brother, Joseph Napoli of Poughkeepsie; his sister, Jean Palazzolo and her husband, Frank of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Jessica and Alison Napoli, Caitlyn and Mikaila Napoli, Jason and Danielle Laxgang and Joseph and Lauren Napoli; his great-grandchildren as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January, 10, 2010 at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A memorial service will be held at 6 pm.
