Obituary of Anthony J. Di Pietrantonio

Anthony J. Di Pietrantonio Anthony J. Di Pietrantonio, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Thursday, March 24, 2011 at his home. He was 82. Son of the late Pasquale and Pasqua DelliCarpini Di Pietrantonio, he was born March 14, 1929 in Gallo, Italy. Tony proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves. He married the former Connie Gurney in 1950. Mrs. Di Pietrantonio survives at home in Wappingers Falls. He retired in 1995 as an administrator with Green Haven Correctional Facility after starting his career there as a vocational educator in the barber trade. After retirement, Tony owned and operated the Mug and Brush Barber Shop in Hughsonville. Tony enjoyed spending time with his family, tinkering on the computer and gardening; especially his tomatoes and fig trees. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved cats, Tee Cee and Chelsea. Tony was a parishioner at St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls. In addition to his wife, Connie, he is survived by his children, Michael Di Pietrantonio and his wife, Pam of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Michele Valli and her husband, Paul of Cape Coral, Florida and Patrick Di Pietrantonio and his wife, Kathy of Fishkill; his sister, Angela Nania and her husband, Dominick of Acton, Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Jennifer Gregory and her husband, Jay, Alana Raiola and her husband, Stephen, Brandon Di Pietrantonio, and Joe, Douglas, Kathryn and Andrea Petri as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank and Dominic and his sister, Domenica. Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2011 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Tony's name may be made to Hospice, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or American Heart Association, 229 Manchester Road, Suite 105, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
