Obituary of David A. Olson

David A. Olson David A. Olson, a resident of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Thursday, April 21, 2011 at his home. He was 57. Son of Doris Ryan Olson of Salt Point and the late Melius Olson, Jr., he was born May 14, 1953 in Poughkeepsie. David worked as a custodian for the Wappingers Central School District. He was an avid New York Yankees, New York Giants and Nascar fan. David also enjoyed arguing politics. Most importantly, he was a devoted son and brother. He will be truly missed. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his siblings, Melius "Pete" Olson, III of Newburgh, Mark Olson of Poughkeepsie, Lee Childs and her husband, Leighton of Highland and Audrey Mina and her husband, Carlos of Salt Point; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Family will receive friends on Monday April 25, 2011 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Ginese officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26 at Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls. Memorial donations on David's behalf may be made in memory of his dear friend, John Williams, to the John Williams Youth Scholarship Fund, payable to Fishkill Church the Nazarene, 953 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524.
