Obituary of Paul L. Britton

Paul L. Britton, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 91. Son of the late Dorbal and Caroline Britton, he was born May 6, 1923 in Waterbury, Connecticut. Paul proudly served his county in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1945 after receiving several decorations and citations including the Purple Heart. Prior to his retirement, Paul worked as an assistant manager for several Shopwell locations. Paul enjoyed skiing and took trips to ski in Europe and across the United States. He enjoyed reading, keeping his mind active. He was an avid computer user, spending countless hours tinkering. He is survived by his daughter, Valerie Musmeci and her husband, Daniel of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Kelly Herder and Louis Musmeci and his wife, Candace; his three great-granddaughters, Summer and Brooke Musmeci and Jordyn Herder; as well as several nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his wife, Josephine Britton and his sister, Shirley Pick. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 20 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 1055 Oregon Road, Peekskill. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Paul's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
