Obituary of Karen A. Lawner

Karen A. Lawner of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh. She was 51. Daughter of Barbara Hofving and the late William Hofving, she was born on February 16, 1960 in Queens. She married the love of her life, Alan Lawner on October 24, 1998 in the Poconos; Mr. Lawner survives at home in Wappingers Falls. Karen absolutely loved life. Her motto was "shop 'til you drop". She was a positive influence on everyone she came into contact with. In addition to her husband, Alan and mother, Barbara, she is survived by her sister, JoAnne; her brother, Billy; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Eileen Hofving. Family and friends will receive their friends on Tuesday, September 13 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, September 14 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held following visitation on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Inurnment will be held on Friday, September 16 at 11:30 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Maspeth, Queens.
