Obituary of Elizabeth A. Brown

Elizabeth A. Brown of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Saturday, September 10, 2011 at home. She was 69. Daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Carroll Lander, she was born on June 16, 1942 in the Bronx. She married the love of her life, Kenneth H. Brown on June 27, 1964 at St. Nicholas Tolentine Church in New York City; Mr. Brown survives at home in Wappingers Falls. Betty attended St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School and Fordham University. She spent the last 31 years as Vice President for Brown's Driving School in Wappingers Falls, working alongside her husband, Ken. She was also a member of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. In her spare time, Betty was the Past Vice President of Elks BPOE Lodge #2609 Ladies Auxiliary. Most of all, she loved her family; she spent her years as a loving and loyal wife, aunt and Godmother. In addition to her husband, Kenneth Brown, she is survived by her Godchildren, Kim Moore McCarthy, Denise Alan-Esposito, Christine A. Moore and Gerard Carey; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joe and Donald Lander, and her sister, Eleanor Moore. Family will receive their friends on Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, September 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Entombment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9 in Fishkill.
