Obituary of John R. Miller

ohn R. Miller, a resident of New Haven, Connecticut, died Thursday, September 15, 2011 in New Haven. He was 29. Son of Richard and Vee Miller of Poughkeepsie, he was born, November 17, 1981 in Poughkeepsie. John was a trombonist and graduate of Yale University, School of Music. He joined the staff at the School of Music immediately after earning his master's degree in trombone performance. He became Manager of Community Services at Yale University, School of Music. He led the Music in Schools initiative, a program that sends School of Music graduate students to New Haven Public Schools to provide music lessons to the children. In addition to his parents, Richard and Vee Miller; he is survived by his sisters, Julie Mohl and her husband, Timmy of Newburgh and Kristen Miller and her fiancé, Michael Perkins of Poughkeepsie; his nieces, Katharine and Elizabeth; his maternal grandparents, John and Marie Cadolino of North Bellmore, Long Island; his aunts and uncles, Stephen and Andrea Miller, Donald and Colette Miller, Brenda Miller, Renny and Susan Cadolino, Joseph and Barbara Cadolino and Rose and Kurt Scammell; as well as numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Phillip and Ruth Miller and his uncle, Philip Miller Family will receive friends on Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 19 at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
