Obituary of Rodulio C. Arbelo

Rodulio C. Arbelo, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the New York State Veterans Home at Montrose. He was 91. Son of the late Eladio and Raimunda Cruz Arbelo, he was born June 4, 1920 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He married the former Rosa Rojas on June 4, 1947. Mrs. Arbelo preceded him in death on October 27, 2009. Rodulio proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was a Supervisor with the New York City Transit Authority. After his retirement, he drove a school bus in Westchester County and held other part time jobs. He also taught religious education. Survivors include his children, Rosa Arbelo-Velazquez of Wappingers Falls, Rodulio Arbelo, Jr. of Manhattan and Magali Guadalupe of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Peter M. Alomar, Marissa J. Alomar, Jason Guadalupe, Melina Guadalupe and Jessica Velazquez; his great-grandchildren, Peter Alomar, Jr., Dante Alomar, Marcus Briggs, and Jason Rosario as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive their friends on Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, September 26 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Veteran's Section of Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
