Obituary of Warren Edgar

Warren "Lawson" Edgar, 81, a resident of New Hamburg passed away unexpectedly on November 25, 2011. Son of the late Warren C. and Hazel Edgar, he was born October 27, 1930. A lifelong resident of New Hamburg, he has been married for fifty-seven years to Barbara (McCourt) Edgar. Lawson was a dedicated and active life member of the New Hamburg Fire Department, Engine Company #1 for sixty-five years. In 2006, he received the Southern Dutchess Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Dedicated Service to the people of the New Hamburg Fire District. He was an active life member of the New Hamburg Yacht Club for sixty-five years. He was a noted historian for the New Hamburg Engine Co. #1 and the New Hamburg Yacht Club. He was a senior precision machinist for Texaco Research Center in Glenham for twenty-five years until his retirement in 1990. Lawson was an avid hunter, fisherman, boater and sportsman. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son Craig and his wife, Linda; granddaughters, Paige and Erin all of New Hamburg; his brother, Archie Edgar of New Hamburg and sister, Janet Budd of Millbrook. His loss is mourned by his dear friend, Marianne Cerniglia of North Carolina, the McCourt Family, his second family at New Hamburg Engine Co. #1 as well as his dear friends and neighbors. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
