Obituary of Vincenza Cifelli

Vincenza Cifelli, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 96. Daughter of the late Vincenzo and Concetta Blancato Valenti, she was born May 13, 1915 in the Bronx. She married Domenick J. Cifelli on October 20, 1940 in Our Lady of Pity in the Bronx. Mr. Cifelli preceded her in death on September 6, 1993. Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a seamstress in New York City. She is survived by her daughter, Antoinette Zeier of Wappingers Falls; her brother, Paul Valenti of Spring Hill, Florida; her sisters, Anna Ferrante of LaGrange and Marie Dorsey of Beacon; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Francis G. Zeier on March 3, 1978; her brothers, Chester and Sam Valenti and her sister, Josephine LaPorta. Family and friends will receive their friends on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 3 at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Entombment will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery, Secor Road, Hartsdale. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
