Obituary of Domenica I. Buono

Domenica I. Buono, 87, a resident of Wappingers Falls and formerly of the Bronx, entered into rest Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was greeted by her mother, Anna and aunts Angelina D'Emlia and Carmela Martucci as she entered into Heaven. Daughter of the late Giuseppe and Anna D'Emlia Buono, she was born March 5, 1928 in the Bronx. Prior to her retirement, she was a dress maker for Iaccovacci in New York City where her handiwork went on to be sold under other luxury brands. She will be remembered as loving; never having a bad word to say about another. She was an extra mother to her nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins and their children. She was known for her trips with them to the movies and to the Bronx Zoo. Della is survived by her brother, Frank Buono and his wife, Fanny of Wappingers Falls; her nephews, Joseph and Eileen Buono and their children, Joseph and Jessica, and John and Mary Buono and their children, Dominic, Anthony and Anna; her cousins, Frank and Rose Ramondi, Gloria Lauber and her children, Christopher and Nell and their children, Paul and Owen, Margaret Lauber and her partner Susan, and Maura and Dan DelBene and their children, Andrew and Mia. Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 23 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in the family plot at St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.
