Obituary of Amy Clear

Amy Clear, 85, a lifelong resident of Wappingers Falls, passed away after a short illness on May 3, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center surrounded by her family. Born on December 22, 1926 in Lodi, New Jersey, she was the daughter of John and Marie LeGuillou, who predeceased her. She was a graduate of the Class of 1944 of Wappingers Central School. On May 29, 1949, she married Robert J. Clear at St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1992. During World War II, she was a proud observer for the US Army Air Force AWS. Before raising her children, Amy was a beautician. She later retired from the Wappingers Central School District in 1993. Amy loved being with her family, lunches with her friends, puttering in her garden, her three great-grandchildren and a good cup of coffee. She was a member of the French Table in Wappingers Falls and the Ralph Waterman Bird Club. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Francine Lucato and her husband, Frank and Marie VanVoorhis and her fiancé, Thomas Gannon; her grandchildren, Frank Lucato, Jr., Jennifer Lucato and Dianna VanVoorhis; her great-grandchildren, Darion, Jayden and Leianna; her cousin, Elizabeth Nedwell as well as her many good friends. Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2012 at St. Mary Mother of the Church, Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls.
