Obituary of Daniel C. Rice

Daniel C. Rice, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at his home. He was 61. Son of Olive Page Rice of Queensbury, New York and the late William Rice, he was born March 4, 1951 in Elmsford, New York. He graduated in 1972 from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry. On September 14, 1974 he married the former Kristine Cialli at the Second Reformed Church in North Tarrytown. Mrs. Rice survives at home in Wappingers Falls. Dan retired as a Detective with the Westchester County Police Department in 2006 after thirty years of service. He was an active member of New Hackensack Reformed Church since 1983. He was involved with the church choir, the "helping hands" program and any other way he could find to serve God. He was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Wappingers Falls and enjoyed photography and fishing. In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by his son, Steven William Rice and his wife, Nicole of Hopewell Junction; his sister, Dawn King and her husband, Michael of Vinton, Virginia and his nephews and niece, Michael, Christopher and Laura. Family will receive their friends on Monday, May 14, 2012 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at New Hackensack Reformed Church, 1580 Route 376, Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be private at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie. Memorial donations in Dan's name may be made to New Hackensack Reformed Church, 1580 Route 376, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
