Obituary of Richard Eylers Secor

Richard Eylers Secor, born October 12, 1941 in Poughkeepsie, peacefully passed away at home in the arms of his loving wife, Carol J. Secor to be with his Lord and Savior on July 7, 2012 after a 17 month long courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He goes to join his Mother and Father…Dirkje and Clarence Secor. Dick retired from IBM in l994 after 30 years of service as an Advisory Telecommunications Planner. He then returned to work as a contractor for IBM in Rochester, NY as a Senior Network Engineer on IBM's Kodak account for another 10 years. Dick and Carol loved to travel, visiting historical homes and perusing garage sales to hunt for various treasures to add to their extensive collections of antique radios, antique mechanical toys, vintage records, books, old video tapes and cartoons. Dick was a member of the Antique Wireless Association and Ham Radio Operators. Dick leaves behind his wife, best friend and companion of 23 years Carol J. Secor who was faithfully by his side as his caregiver for the last 17 months of his life. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Christopher Hackett of Plattsburgh, NY and grandson, Porter; his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Rhonda Secor of Clinton Corners, NY; and grandchildren, Theodore, Sasha, Renee, Gretta and Keilee. He is also survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Mary Secor of Wappingers Falls, NY and their children, Lucinda and Robert; Neil and Christine Secor of Pleasant Valley, NY and their son, Jared; and Paul and Suzanne Powers of Baldwinsville, NY and their children Aaron and Allison. Dick will be missed and fondly remembered by many family members and friends. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY, 12590. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Fishkill, 38 Broad St., Fishkill, NY.
