Obituary of Barbara J. Edgar

Barbara J. Edgar, 79, a resident of New Hamburg died at her home on September 1, 2012. She was the loving wife of the late W. Lawson Edgar and mother of Craig A. Edgar. She was very close to her beloved daughter-in-law, Linda and her two beautiful granddaughters, Paige and Erin as well as her dear brother-in-law, Archie all of New Hamburg. Barbara "BJ" is also survived by her siblings, Catherine, Mary, Jan, Billy, Pete and Bernice and her numerous nieces and nephews. She had a special longtime friendship with Marianne Cerniglia-Broast of Sunset Beach, North Carolina and her dear friend, Diane Cantor of New Hamburg. Barbara loved to travel and paint in addition to helping her husband compile a history of New Hamburg and the New Hamburg Yacht Club over the years. She loved to bowl with her "bird" league friends for over twenty years where she was known for her "odes." Prior to her retirement, she was a twenty-eight year employee of IBM in both Poughkeepsie and Fishkill. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. Funeral services will be private. Interment will be in the family plot in Wappingers Rural Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her sister, Jan Ebbs for her ongoing help, love and special care over the last several months; Dr. Rubin and Tammi at MHMG for their care and kindness and her home care angel, Christine.
