Obituary of Barbara Kropkowski

Barbara Kropkowski, a resident of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Friday, November 30, 2012 at Renaissance Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center in Staatsburg. She was 77. Daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth Lazar, she was born September 28, 1935 in Jersey City, New Jersey. She married Thomas Raymond Kropkowski on June 14, 1958. Mr. Kropkowski preceded her in death on February 22, 1986. She was a parishioner of St. Martin de Porres Church in Poughkeepsie where she was a Eucharistic Minister and involved in their outreach programs. Barbara had worked in Residence Life as a "White Angel" at Vassar College until her retirement. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Gary Kropkowski and his wife, Clare of Brewster, Greg Kropkowski and his wife, Jane of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Nancy Fabrizio and her husband, Darby of Wappingers Falls, and Glen Kropkowski of Poughkeepsie; her brother, George Lazar; and her grandchildren, Katherine, Allison, Robert, Joseph, Kirsten, Grace, and Eric. Family will receive friends on Monday, December 3, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4 at St. Martin De Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road in Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, LaGrange Avenue, Poughkeepsie.
