Obituary of Thomas P. Hynes

Thomas P. Hynes, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 73. Son of the late Thomas R. and Mary Gilmartin Hynes, he was born February 17, 1940 in Manhattan. Thomas proudly served his country and was honorably discharged in 1963. He married the love of his life, the former Patricia O'Rourke on September 22, 1962 at Ascension Church in Manhattan. Mrs. Hynes preceded him in death on August 4, 2011. Prior to his retirement, Thomas worked as a Power Supervisor with MetroNorth. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and doting grandfather. He is survived by his children, Patricia Haran and her husband, Kevin of Hurley, Thomas R. Hynes of Wappingers Falls, Christine Moroney and her husband, Tim of Wappingers Falls, and Tara Hynes Toth of Wappingers Falls; brothers, Michael and Peter Hynes; sister, Marion Young; and grandchildren, Michael Haran and Ryan, John and Katie Moroney. In addition to his wife of forty-eight years, he was predeceased by his son, Michael Hynes; grandson, Nicholas Toth; brother, Richard Hynes and sister, Anna Hynes. Family will receive their friends on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls.
