Son of Sara Flickinger Thornton and the late Richard Thornton, he was born on October 9, 1967 in Poughkeepsie. He married Victoria Vanzillotta on April 15, 2003; Mrs. Thornton survives at home in Pleasant Valley.
Jim graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in Wappingers Falls where he was a member of their swim team. He went on to receive an Associate in Business Degree from Dutchess County Community College. He was currently employed as a manager for Westchester Linen Supply in Poughkeepsie.
In his spare time, Jimmy enjoyed sports. He loved the New York teams, as an avid Mets and Giants fan. He also enjoyed fishing; he was a member of the Stone Church Fishing Club in Pleasant Valley for many years. Jim was a book of knowledge when it came to Rock and Roll; he could tell you anything about any Rock and Roll song that you would want to know. He was a great family man and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
